Your Premier Source for Cranes and Hoists
Preventive Maintenance and
OSHA Compliance Inspection Program
Complete inspections of overhead cranes and
hoists are done in accordance with current ANSI standards and
manufacturers' recommendations. Formal inspection reports would
include a checklist of the items inspected, stating
a professional opinion of the current condition of the part as
well as any recommendations for repairs or modifications.
Recorded data of hook throat openings, chain and/or cable
measurements, and crack testing of load hooks will be
included with dates and signatures. An inspection for the existence
and functionality of required safety items and features as
governed by state and federal regulations, and compliance with
current NEC and ANSI standards will be done to inform the
customer if any deficiencies exist. A long range inspection
analysis, tracking the history of parts removed from service,
will better enable us to customize inspection frequencies,
predict a part's life expectancy, and schedule routine repairs on
normal wear items. Preventive maintenance includes, but is not
limited to: lubrication of the unit as recommended by the
manufacturer of the equipment, topping off of oil, all brake
adjustments, and the tightening of any loose fasteners found
during inspection.
AmeriCrane & Hoist's inspectors are all
fully qualified and experienced individuals in the crane and
hoist field who not only do the inspections, but are also the
same technicians who do the repair work. To do a proper
crane inspection, we feel that the inspector should have
extensive knowledge and experience on troubleshooting and doing
repairs. This experience is crucial in identifying potential
problems and being aware of the tendencies certain models have as
their parts begin to wear. Many of the parts on your crane, such
as internal gearing and some electrical components are not
visually accessible upon routine inspections. Often,
deteriorating parts reveal themselves in subtle clues, such as
slight noises or vibrations. These clues are recognizable to
an experienced technician. It is common for a crane inspection to
turn into a troubleshooting situation. Many crane service
companies today have teams of inspectors who do not have the
experience or the "know how" to do repairs or troubleshoot. Using
these under-qualified workers, they are able to quote lower
prices on inspections. Please be aware that crane inspections, like
any service, differs greatly in quality and content, as well as
price. Don't be fooled by any fancy marketing propaganda. There
are no "magic" software programs or crane repairman degrees that
guarantee a satisfactory job. Even following current ANSI
standards does not mean that inspectors will do a
thorough inspection. There are many grey areas in the
interpretation of ANSI that service companies can hide behind.
Disassembly of the equipment is not even required according to
these standards. Ultimately, it comes down to
the quality and expertise of the individual inspector and
the company they work for. We are a company that knows the
importance of the individual. The owners of AmeriCrane know
personally each of our technicians and their
capabilities. We make it a point to work side by side with
each of them to ensure that the service AmeriCrane provides is
maintained at the highest level possible. Currently, of
our seven technicians, one has five years of experience in the
field, with the others ranging in experience from ten to
forty years each! AmeriCrane is an owner-operated business
that is independent of the biased nature of some other service
companies who are owned by hoist manufacturers. For this
reason, we feel that our opinions and recommendations can be more
honest and accurate, rather than merely a sales pitch to sell a
specific brand name. AmeriCrane is a well known parts warehouse
where we have a vast inventory of parts available to meet your
needs. Since our service vans carry many of the common parts
needed in repairs, we are able to do many of the repairs during
the inspection or the same day if needed. In today's
safety conscious industrial environment where cranes can carry an
immense amount of burden as well as liability, I can assure you
that AmeriCrane & Hoist Corporation will provide you with
excellent service at a fair
rate.
Sincerely,
